Letter for Parents (January 13, 2020)

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our parents and their support is very important to our school.  Recently we have had some rumors going around the community about our Parent, Teacher Organization (PTO). Our school is the only middle school in the complex that had a PTO, the other middle schools have a halftime Parent Community Network Center (PCNC) employee and no parent organizations.  The three elementary feeder schools to EMMS don’t have a PTO and only have a half time PCNC. Our community is so important to us that we have a halftime PCNC and a full-time Transition Coordinator (TC) that work with our families and students.  We have the best PCNC, Erynn Tait, and TC, Lolita Perez-Ayala that coordinate tours, events, volunteerism, beautification, social platforms and information to our families.

Moving forward, we want to reassure our parents that we will continue to have volunteer opportunities for them.  As soon as we can safely bring parents on campus, we will!  In the meantime, we are providing coffee chats, virtual webinars (Parenting Through A Pandemic series), parent nights, parent Ambassadors, a Facebook group, book clubs, website for information, and orientations for our new students/families.

We value our relationship with you and your family.  It has been a difficult year, but we are working hard to make it a positive experience for everyone.  We are looking forward to welcoming back our students to the classroom in Quarter 4 once our staff is afforded the vaccine.  We have truly missed your children’s happy faces on campus.  As always we are empowered to explore and excel together.

Posted are links to the documents that helped us in our decision to dissolve the PTO at this time.

Most Sincerely,
Kim Sanders, Principal
